I am trying to contact Sheila Jones who was a Kaye sister who is married to Stanley Jones who was a Dallas Boy.(of the famous band the Dallas Boys) My reasons for trying to contact Sheila are personal.My dear friend Ann lived in Spain and Stanley was her cousin. I was a Bouncer at The Cavern, in Liverpool, from 1960 till 64, then a year at the Blue Angel on Seal St. Used to chat with Acker Bilk when he came upstairs for a breath of air. The Thusday nights were Trad Jazz nights, from a Bouncers point of view, great nights, no trouble, Fri/Sat a whole different story! I got stabbed on two different occasions. I wonder does Acker Bilk rember chatting to me, red beard, glasses, lived in Prescot, drove a TV Van, with the name Telefusion on it.

I have a query which is actually concerning fifties music rather than sixties. There are four tracks on the CD "The Legendary Max Bygraves" that I haven't been able to find any vinyl release for. The CD covers Max's time at HMV and the tracks are "Strollin'" (1953) "Mame", "Show Me The Way To Go Home" and "Who's Sorry Now (Medley)" (all three from 1956). All bar the medley may have been on a mail order only World Record Club LP called "Strollin' With Max Bygraves" (not sure when this was released) but were they issued in the usual fashion on EPs or LPs - I'm pretty sure they weren't on singles as I have a fairly comprehensive resource for that area (EPs and LPs not so much).

Great site with wonderful photos and excellent info. I am 24 and have spent nearly 15 years trawling through charity and junk shops, 2nd hand record stores, record fairs, ebay, local paper adverts, car boot sales etc for old 78s, 45s, EPs and LPs and I like lots of different music from 1900 to 1965 mainly 20s to 60s...big rock n roll and R&B, Rockabilly and Beat music fan...the 1st 45 I ever obtained was "Apache" by the Shadows on Columbia from 1960..4000 records later I am still looking for more! - thanks for a great resource and keep up the good work...!!

My Dad often reminices about Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers. Back in 1958 he joined the group for a brief spell playing the Drums. His name is Tinker but was often known as 'Darkie' by the group due to his black hair. He recalls playing at The Grapes, in Hayes, Walton Hop, The Ostrich in Colnbrook. He thinks one of the band members younger brothers was still at school at the time but managed to get them access to the school hall in Langley so they could rehearse. There was a group photo taken at that time and Dad remembers the RR on the lapels of all their shirts. Fond memories, he enjoyed seeing old clips of the group playing that are now on the internet.

"Listen People" was a UK flip side for Herman's Hermits and I think a Top Ten Hit A-side in USA. Radio Caroline (North) used to play it a lot but by a female vocalist, probably 1965/6? Reg, Excellent site. I'd nominate the late Roy Castle for inclusion. Although widely known as an 'all round entertainer', he was actually a very fine jazz-inspired singer. Sadly, he got few opportunities to display this side of his craft on records. Nearly all his records sold poorly, causing them to be largely ignored or forgotten about. However, between 1958-1970 he made a dozen singles and three LPs - many of them far superior to those of his contemporaries who claimed singing as their sole occupation. Apart from his lame 1960 Xmas novelty "Little White Berry", his singles for Philips (1960-62) are particularly good - all recorded with the fine Wally Stott.

Hedgehoppers did not disband in late 1966. They went through further changes, including having Crazy World of Arthur Brown keyboard player Vincent Crane a brief member at the end of 1966/early 1967. Like Renaissance, an entirely new line up was formed and eventually moved out to South Africa and recorded a great LP called Hey in 1971. Most of those musicians appear to have come from Staffordshire. Alan Avon, one of the singers, is still in Stoke. I also believe that Tony Kaye, who may be the same guy who was in the original Yes, was a member.

I am certainly a fan of 60s music. There is so much music from that decade that appeals to me so I can't really decide which is my favourite. I like to contact Millie Small who I met when she was in Oslo, Norway- I was Miss Norway legs and a fashion model- and we metat the Central Hotel, She then lived in Chelsea, in Old Church street- and we met up...in 1967. I toured with her to Wolverhampton etc...but then lost touch. I like to contact her again. I am trying to find the contact address for the wife of late, great Johnny Duncan of the Blue Grass Boys fame. He was my great friend and 'mentor' and we did several TV shows together. I am so asddened to hear of his passiong. Can anybody let me know the whereabouts of his wife- who bore him four children - her name was Anita Brennan (could have been her stage name as we did many gigs together in the sixties).
