Anyone heard of a 60's group called Carter-Lewis & The Southerners, some singles recorded on Oriole label? Ken Lewis and John Carter went on to become songwriters and also performed as The Ivy League. Am looking for single "Sweet and Tender Romance" circa 1963? but anything will do. Also, only heard recently that Rod Allen lead singer with the Fortunes had died (Jan 2008). Very sorry to hear this sad news, lovely guy.

Actually, I'm looking for a site (if one exists) that shows the time of the song on the original version 45 label. This is a tremendous help in determining if a song on a cd or reissue 45 is the original version. Bought too may re-records, resungs and live versions in the past. Thanks,

I really enjoyed this site, well done...Did you know how the number 45 was added to the recording system??..Easy,just deduct 33 from 78 and thats how they decided on 45 as the generic number!!(I'm pretty sure of that but if anyone wants to mail me with a different story,no problem)

Having just watched Jess Conrad in 'Move to the Country', I really cannot believe that somebody is so full himself. All he could talk about was 'Jess Conrad', and what he wants and what he needs, his poor wife must have the patients of a saint. No, Mr Conrad the world does not revolve around YOU...............

I have just watched Jess Conrad and his wife on the television programme Escape to the Country. I was never a fan of Jess Conrad and now I know the reason why. Listening and watching the programme made me want to be sick. All you ever heard was Jess Conrad talking about Jess Conrad. What a self centered person he is,even my husband could not believe what he heard. I though his name should be Me Me Me because thats about all we heard. Mrs Conrad, you deserve a medal for putting up with this nauseating man. Get a life Jess, you are a has been, get over it.

Re: Decca F12209 1965 Headliners - That's The Way I Must Go/ Four Seasons This takes me back a bit. One of the group members (can`t remember which one) was a distant relative of mine and I well remember (when younger) being dragged along to see them perform near Bracknell in Berkshire, when my parents visited my aunt and uncle who lived there. I thought at the time that they were definitely trying to "do a Springfields" with the line up of two guys with guitars and a girl singing poppy country stuff. What amazed me even more was that they won "Opportunity Knocks" several weeks in a row with that line-up and similar format. Quite pleasant, but didn`t really hit me between the eyes and I could never really understand why they came up to win so many times, bearing in mind the resemblance to the Springfields. My mum bought the record (naturally!) but I notice it it`s not in the Guinness book of hit singles, so obviously didn`t do a lot! I didn`t know that they had a second single - even more unknown than the first!

With reference to Carole Deene. I actually met Carole in 2002 whilst visiting a friend in Southern Spain. My friend was friends with her husband and whilst visiting they moved home and i helped with the move. Had the opportunity to share a few drinks with them afterwards and learn some interesting stories of Carole's career and the famous people she had met and spent time with. Namely the Beatles!! Thought this might be of interest..

I am looking for sheet music or an archive or something related to published or manuscript music for the Ted Heath Orchestra. I have a recording of a specific title, "Big Deep" that was released in 1988 on an 'Otello' and Michelle Records label on a "The Big Band Era Vol. 7" CD. I am curious if there is written music available for this particular piece of music. Or is the title on the CD incorrect and should it be 'Skin Deep' or 'Dig Deep'. If anyone knows, please help me out with any information that you may have.

Hi All, OK, an unusual one. My mother, Sheila Edginton, worked for Lonnie Donegan in 1962 and fell pregnant to an associate of his during the April of that year. The father evidently did not wish to acknowledge the conception of his son, me! Unfortunately, Sheila died in 1989 and Lonnie died in 2002- if anyone out there can has any genuine idea of who the gentleman concerned is, I'd really appreciate contact

I played guitar for Nero & Gladiators in early 60's for a short period. Did a few tours with Nero which included groups such as Michael Cox, Paul Hanford, Joe Brown, Marty Wild, Johnny Kid and many more. I was about 19 then and my father 'pulled me out' to attend colledge. although I was mainly into jazz, they were graet days!

I am trying to contact those who may be interested. Petula Clark is one of the most venerated of British female vocalists she is now 75 years old and still touring, writing and recording. There is a Downing Street online petition asking the British Government to make her a Dame. This is being supported by many of her contemporaries and Sir Michael Caine, Sir Tim Rice, Susan Hampshire, Michael Jayston, Bill Kenwrght, Ruthie Heanshall , Amanda Jane Manning and many others have signed. Please can you consider signing and pass the link on to anyone else who may be interested. I feel this is a very worthy cause. The link is : http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Damehood/ Just click on . fill in and SIGN Then you get a reply email from Downing Street and you need to open this and click on to validate the signature. This is open to UK citizens (if living abroad there is another box to fill in ) or anyone residing in UK, or with a UK address. Many thanks Richard Harries

So sorry to hear that you're ill - but your songs bring me loads of pleasure and remind me of my childhood in the 5o's when my mother would sing to us. Take care and I'll keep playing your songs!

I was at rehearsal and recording "Off the Record" 10.12.56 - I have copy of the running order etc. and would be pleased to pass it on to someone who would find it a welcome addition to a collection, for a voluntary donation to a charity I support. On the reverse there are some autographs (A) from the day: Terry Burton (A), Desmond Lane (A), Julie Dawn, The Barry Sister, Eve Boswell (A), Spike Milligan (A), Peter Sellers (A), Ronnie Ronalde (A), The Vipers. I was there with The Vipers; my brother, Pete Hardy, was a friend of theirs and did "jam" with them sometimes and Jon Booker (and the monkey) actually lived with my family for quite some time in St John's Wood. Sadly I have heard that Jon Died in March this year. At 14 years I guess I was an early "groopy"!

This is starting to look like the Paul Overton appreciation society, but i remember seeing him loads of times during the late sixties and seventies.I have never heard a singer that could hit such a deep note as Paul could. He could make a bass bin vibrate!!I remember seeing him with a few different bands, including Revival,Remember This,Wrongdoing,Up and Running and The Commanches. He was always wore a suit on stage, usually dark blue or black.I'm gonna have to find out where he still sings in Spain and try and get to see him.

Like Paul Overton,I sang in a fair few bands in the'60's&'70's.Paul&I occasionally used to play the same venues at times, especially in the midlands during the'60's.That guy could belt out a rock&blues number.I saw him in Spain last year&his voice is still amazing(the bands used to call him"The Growler"because of the amazing depth of his voice!)It was great to see him in your guestbook&brought back a lot of old memories for me

This is an excellant site - I use it all the time to find out info on releases. However I've just noted an ommission! There's no info for DOUG SHELDON, he recorded for Decca between 1961-63 and I see that Vocalion are about to issue a CD of his material next week (along with Decca tracks by Craig Douglas). Can you "rectify the fault"? keep up the good work!
