see my post further down. Wonderful that I should receive a reply so soon. A guy from Belgium mailed me the music that I was looking for and I am indebted to this guy. Any way folks I've been wondering if it would be possible, via the net provider, to start up some type of direct communications between ourselves seeing that we have so much in common via the music and because of the particular era.It may well lead on to greater things regarding the music, for example, meetings and get togethers in many parts of the country. Thoughts anyone? If it's ok with the provider then give me a call on 01709 879059. Kind regards Brian

Tommy was my teenage idle I think I wore the record out on the jukbox at the RAF camp I was stationed in 1956. Singing The Blues. Used to listen to Radio Luxemberg on Sunday nights One week they played Guy Mitchel's version the next week they played Tommy steelesversion.I saw him live in his one man show in the late 1970's. seen most of his films. I have just read his Autobiography which was good reading I recommend it to anyone.

Went to see a band last night, they sang Tell Laura I love her(The band is sydney based"The Prickles"). This raised the question who originally sung the song which ended with me looking on the internet. Best wishes,Ron Howe.

Family released several 45's that were not listed - 'In my own time' and 'Burlesque' seemed to be two obvious ommissions.

I was very saddened this week to hear of the death of one of the kaye Sisters, Carol. They were the 'Spice Girls' of the mid-to-late 50s and even "Paper Roses" took them into the Top 10 in 1960. Carol was 71 and died from cancer with lifelong friend, actress Dora Bryan, at her side. I'm sure you will join me in hoping Carol is now resting in peace. It was nice to read the info on Eddie Calvert. He was a great trumpeter with his own tone. It was probably due to his originally being a cornet player. As a brass player myself, I would be content to have a tone like Eddie's.

I'm looking for those rare singles {on CDs} by solo girl singers from the 60s, not necessarily the hitmakers. So I'm going for Julie Grant, the late Erma Franklin, Patsy Ann Noble, Sandy Posey, gorgeous Louise Cordet, etc. Any help in this area would be most appreciated, ok? Great site thank you. I was directed here while looking for some info on Lonnie Donegan. As a Semi-professional drummer from 1955 and a professional from 1960 through to 1973, I was fortunate enough to play with a large number of the 'acts' from that period. I played in Lonnie's band from 1968 - 1972 and have some very fond memories of the times travelling the world with the group. Other singers I played with inlude: Matt Monroe, Johnnie Duncan, Chas McDevitt, Paul Raven (!), Dickie Pride, Eden Kane and Craig Douglas - the list goes on. Thank you

Actually most of my collection is in 78's. My collection began in the 40's and the most memorable are , as for most of us I'm sure, the records we bought when we were dancing and going out with our girl/boy friends. These times were magic, sadly gone , and now we have just a lot of noise gatherers with no appreciation of melody and rhythm. I play keyboards for many years and still the second half of the 20th century songs are the ones I favour. In my 70's now, I spend most of my time playing, listening, writing about the songs this site is all about.

Can you please help me find an obscure single by Al Saxon called 'Your're The Tops Cha Cha' issued on Fontana Records H164 please? It entered the UK charts on the 16th January 1959,got to No.17 and lasted 4 weeks.I cannot find this on a mint-condition 45rpm single, nor any music compilation anywhere in the world! Have an addition for the obscure artists...My brother was a member of the Band "Dead Sea Fruit". Although they didnt chart in the UK, they had great success in France in 1967-1968. The band played at the UFO club in London, where Pink Floyd also played, and at one of there gigs, Jimi Hendrix and Paul McCartney were in the audience. My brother Art played bass as well as vocals with the band. More info can be found at www.deadseafruit.com

Heard the sad news about Freddie today. We seem to be losing a lot of our favourite sixties stars this year.

What a great music decade the 60's was. The beatles, beach boys, cream etc etc.Perhaps the 70's came close but nothing like it since.Generally i love all music, and am lucky that i can listen to my kids music and also appreciate there tastes!

As a kid growing up in the 60's, I didn't know the titles of many songs, but - through you - I've been able to get MANY of them downloaded on the internet, and now have them on disc. The memories have come flooding back! Thanks a million!!
