This is a country music request. I am looking for copies of Hank Williams Snr albums "The Lonesome Sound of Hank Williams" and "The Immortal Hank Williams" (this is a 10" LP). I would prefer them on cd but if anyone can help would be really grateful. Have been trying to replace my very badly worn copies for ages!

A few weeks ago, on the excellent Saturday morning Radio 2 programme 'SOTS', presented by Brian Matthew, a 1964 Fontana label single by Lorraine Gray was featured and I'm now trying to get this single, but I haven't found this track on any CD compilations at all as yet. Titled "Are You Getting Tired Of Your Little Toy?", it is an infectious little number, sung well by Lorraine. Does anybody know anything about this single? Or have seen it at all on any CD compilations? I'd be a very happy man if anyone can assist me here. With best wishes, Russtti Gaynor {Email: orbisonkinksdusty@yahoo.co.uk}

Saw the Folkestone gig on March 7th. You missed your vocation; you should've been a comedian. Funny, entertaining and you can still belt out a decent song. You still look cool. Thanks for the memories.

With six friends we attended the Leas Cliff Hall, Folkestone on 7th March and I have to complement Dave Dee, etc., on their performance. We thoroughly enjoyed it and thought you should have been top of the bill. By the way, whoever put your UK tour on needs a bit of a lesson in geography!! Rather you than me on going up and down the country.

Playing with my new laptop, thinking which old friends to look up, you also came to mind. Maybe you cannot recall the 19 year old Norwegian girl staying next door to Ruth on Holborn Street, but some of my fiends from those days are not easily forgotten. I have lived in USA most of my adult life and back in Norway now for 6. The web site looks great.

Is any one interested in Liberace he was not so known for his classical and concert music but it was well performed especially in 1980s at Wembly with the london philharmonic orchestra, I was fortunate to be a fan and friend whenever we met in Vegas or the u.k.

Hi Gang!! On February the 25th I was listening to BBC Radio 2's sixties 'Bible' and I heard a sizzling little track on there that I hadn't heard for decades. It was released in Fontana in 1964, an uptempo dance cut by Lorraine Gray called "Are You Getting Tired Of Your Toy?" Can anyone help me out here in tracking a copy down? I haven't seen it on any CDs and even on many of the 'girls' CDs, featuring the likes of Helen Shapiro, the Shirelles, the Honeys, the Toys, Louise Cordet, etc, I can't find this Lorraine Gray cut anywhere. So if anyone can throw some light on this knockout piece of work {on CD only} I'd be more than grateful. JOHN LEYTON; There must be a lot of John's fans out in 60sland who are pretty fond of John's releases. He is about to go on a 10-date tour of Sweden and he has just recorded a new CD, which is due out in late Summer. I heard a re-recording last night on Radio Bristol of the 1961 release, "You Took My Love For Granted", which was the flip to his #2 hit, "Wild Wind". If this track is anything to go by then his 14-track CD is going to be a sizzler when it's released. I think "Son, This Is She" is also on the new CD, so if any John Leyton fans out there are interested, there isn't long to go till late Summer. I bought two copies of his 60-track 2-CD album of hits, 'b'-sides, tracks from his albums "Two Sides Of John Leyton" {1961} and "Always Yours" {1962}, plus four tracks never released before in an anthology of earlier works. It's a superb double-CD for any collecter of 60s music, I reckon. John is hard at work just now, with his new album out in later Summer, as stated, so ... Here's wishing you all the best, Russtti {Email: orbisonkinksdusty@yahoo.co.uk}

The 60's were my time. and a friend and I were talking over stars from our time and Jesse Conrad came up,but we couldn't remember how any of the songs went,we did however remember Jesse as a bit of a looker and wondered if you have any pictures of him that you could,perhaps send via my email to refresh our memories of him or maybe put them up on your website. We would be most grateful if you can.If thats not possible perhaps you could direct us to another site where we might see some pics of him. Many thanks, Christine x.

Loved 'BUDDY' having seen him live at the Trocadera in 1958. I spend a week or so every year visiting places like Austin where the live music is great and bands like The Joe Richardson Express play great R&B in really small pubs and clubs and deserve greater success ( he has his own website). Great Site. Obviously put up by a great lover of music and a collector. For someone like me stuck in the 80s, it is like meeting an old friend. Nice to be here. Will be back.

I am a 14 year old record collector or 'freak' as some people would say. My protegee tastes have acumulated some 500 45's, and many 100s more to come! Being from Australia, i have recently aquired a taste for early aussie records, which you would have no idea of - but i do know that Patsy Ann Noble ventured over there for a while and i am after her aussie no. 1 'Good Lookin' Boy', so if anyone would part with it i will be tickled pink! I have also been after some english talent for quite some time too, such as Mike Sarne's 'Will I What' (I have 'Come Out Side') and 'Come Inside', Tommy Steele's 'Nairobi' etc, The Brook Brothers 'Warpaint' and various Anthony Newley ones too. Not to mention Helen Shapiro, Johnny Leyton and The Allisons - You English folk have a lot of great talent, you know!! (Despite what anyone says!) You may not have heard of Johnny O'Keefe, Johnny Devlin or Judy Stone, as they're Aussie, but i am also after them. Many happy record hunting days to all! P.S. Any idea how tho get that disgusting smell of old record covers off your hands, it stays on for weeks - even after washing!

I was rather surprised to find no listing under well known peformers for the great Robert Earl, who was surely one of the finest voices in the variety theatre and clubland of the 50s and 60s. He made many 45's and 2 LPs all with the Wally Stott Orchestra on Philips. Most recently, a compilattion of 22 of his recordings was issued on an excellent cd entitled The Magic of Robert Earl-on the Spectrum Label. Arguably Robert's son Robert Earl Junior is a lot more famous than his supremely talented dad. Earl Jr. was Mr Planet Hollywood and according to many reports, the UK's 4th richest man. Please note that England's Robert Earl(senior) was a terrific performer on stage as well as recordings. He should not be confused with an American bloke called Robert Earl Keen. If the owner of this web site reads this can I please request that England's Robert Earl be added to your otherwise excellent site.

This is a long shot! During the war (That's the second World War) We had a 78 rpm record of Je Taindra (Forgive my spelling) I do not know who recorded it, other than he was French. It was a hit during the forties war years and was heard on TV during a programme where Jon Thaw played a priest. I cannot find it any where and wondered if any readers had heard of it?

This is a long shot and I don't have much information, but wonder if anyone can identify this group. They were 5 (I think) male folk singers, from Liverpool or that area, in the late 50s or early 60s, I believe a couple of them were brothers. They used to wear white jackets like the ones dentists wear. I haven't a clue what they sang so am afraid there is not much to go on, but if anyone can help would be grateful, as its driving us bonkers trying to think who they were!

Greetings, I'm trying to track down a kinda 'best of' CD by one of the most underrated American female singers of the 60s, in my opinion, New York-born Lesley Gore. Although a couple of Top 20 hits in Britain {"Maybe I Know" in 1964; "It's My Party" in 1963}, Lesley went on to score many more huge hits in America, such as "She's A Fool", "You Down Own Me", "Judy's Turn To Cry", among others. Does anyone know of any 'anthology'-type CD on Lesley at all? I'd be very grateful for any help given here. Incidentally, I wish you all the best of the best for the New Year and may 2006 be a far more peaceful year. Best wishes, Russtti Gaynor {Email: orbisonkinksdusty@yahoo.co.uk}

Stumbled over this site via www.ask.co.uk when I was looking for a Betty Smith 7" 'There's a blue ridge round my heart Virginia' on the old Tempo label. I used to play my Mum and Dad's copy when I was about six! Although unfortunate that I share my name with a Radio 2 DJ, it is also unfortunate in some ways that I too am a DJ. As a child I was lucky enough to have been raised on Latin and Jazz (Erroll Garner, Edmundo Ros) thanks to my Dad, Russ Conway, Mrs Mills and Winifred Atwell via my Nan, and 60's pop from my cousin. You would need a rather large bomb to separate me from my vinyl, CD's and my trusty Dansette, so don't even think about it!! Incidentally, I am still buying new music now, so I am not one of these people that think that 'decent' music is not made any more and as such my CD collection spans Hank Williams and George Formby to Outkast and Sugababes. Enjoyed other visitor comments very much. More please!

Being a manic music lover of some 45 years I often visit this site. Very intetesting and often fact-finding. I'm of the 'old' breed, who prefer vinyl to CDs, when the Kinks sounded like the Kinks, the Small Faces sounded like the Small Faces, etc. I have already recommended this site to a few other pop pickers, although whether they took me up on this is another matter. A Web Site not just for sixties music lovers!

I was looking at the Cilla Black diecography and noticed that the only EP of hers that obviously didn't sell was the one which included two of my songs (lyrics mainly by Simone Avadis). Hopefull,y the reason for this is that, by then, EPs were going out of fashion, rather than the quality of my songs, not to mention fine arrangements by...I THINK...Mike Leander. I wonder if these songs...Abyssinian Secret and Trees And loneliness are available on Mp3. my old copies are getting rather screatchy. I'm likewise looking for an Mp3 of Georgie Fame's recording of my Sister Jane (a different song from the later one with the same title.

I'm a volunteer presenter with Hospital Radio. I'm always on the lookout for sites where I can get artist info to share with our listeners in the hospital wards, most of whome are of the 50's & 60's era. Thanks for this site, found it a great source of info - keep up the good work!

Comment - What, no Beatstalkers in the B section? Or is it in the more well-known artists section? Cheers for having The Athenians tho, but their tracks on the final 45 should read 'Thinking Of Our Love' and 'Mercy, Mercy', nit-pickin I know but I can't help myself. Can help out with other, Scottish beat-type info. And I heard that The Beatmen were from Notts. not Liverpool? Well I know these facts can get enhanced, mixed up I do it all the time myself too. Great site tho I will visit again...Cheers - Lenny (THE THANES)

Good morning, I am Rodgers Grant, co-writer of Georgie Fame's hit, "Yeh! Yeh!". I would appreciate it if you would see that Georgie Fame receives this message of thanks. For 8 years I was the pianist for Mongo Santamaria. The late Pat Patrick was the reed player back in the '60's when we collaborated the writing of the music. Jon Hendricks heard the Santamaria recording, wrote a clever lyric and the rest is history, thanks to Georgie. This little tune has been recorded "millions" of times and they are still recording it in studios with jazz artists. You must listen to the jazz version by singer Kristin Korb on her CD, "Kristin Korb with the Ray Brown Trio". It's an unbelieveable, toe tappin', swingin' rendition!!! I am eternally grateful to Georgie Fame. Please have him contact me ASAP. Thanking you in advance. My wife, Louise and I wish you and yours a very happy holiday season. Thank you very, very much!! SINCERELY, RODGERS

A truly excellent and well designed site. It's great to find/discover great singles that didn't chart. I have traced and downloaded some of these, thanks to your site. It's also very useful to have the B sides listed. I was able to track down some great Dave Clark and Georgie Fame B sides I had forgotten the titles of but which I remembered liking. Are you continuing to expand the site with more artists? For example, it would be good to have an entry for the 60's Nirvana. Again, congrats for a suberb mine of information. Kind regards Michael

Am buying Joes C.D. of his hits and disappointed that it does not have Good Luck and Goodbye from a Fool on it. I have the original Golden Guinee L.P. Picture of You which has it on it, and was hoping to get all of the old songs on the C.D. I have recently been in touch with an old boyfriend on Friends and we always loved Joe Brown, and by chance he has just bought a C.D. also. Perhaps Joe ought to re release some of his singles, as I think that they would be popular.

your comments on terry not wanting to do national service is wrong.i am a friend of terry and i know that when he went into the army he was in the middle of a divcorce.he was hounded by fans when he went out and under pressure to perform within the army.this man is a great guy and not the kind who would refuse to serve his country.however the pressure was too much and i believe he was discharged on medical grounds.it was a sad loss to real rock and roll when the public went against him without knowing the full facts.read the book.i thought terry dene was dead to red his story.hi.terry if you read this.take care.

Its about time you guys got it straight about Bob Kerrs name as trumpet player with the band(yes he played with the orgional band) but he was fired within two years of playing with the ensemble for a number of reasons that are not worth going into after all this time.The band contacted me through Stan Haywood as we had played together with Spencers Washboard Kings,and at that time I was running my own group The Gomez Cooper Band and was also with the Regimental Band of the Irish guards band,Peter Grant actually bought me out of the army and I joined the group in Birmingham in the early sixties and played with the band untill 1973 when I moved to the U.S.A.Ask Henri Harrison he will put you straight.At least give me some credit for all the years I played with the band.

Response: As you haven't paid me the courtesy of emailing me or even leaving an email address then I can only reply here in this same public forum. I only endeavour to list the names of original band members- and do not always succeed even in that! I'm very sorry but I do not have the resources to list everybody that subsequently played with a band because the site covers every band that had a 45 issued during the 1950s and 1960s. I frequently do list later members if I know that they significantly contributed to the records listed in the discography- this web site is about 45rpm records. If you want to correct an error or make a contribution of information about the band who you do not mention (I know who you mean, but I don't think may casual visitors will) then please email me and help me keep the band's name and music alive. Thank you- Webmaster

I've become exasperated over the lacl of a detailed biography of LANCE FORTUNE (aka Chris Morris). I really hope you can research and publish one. Also, did Lance ever actually release a single called "Who's Gonna Tell Me?" (Clive Westlake & Charles Rodgers)? I have the sheet music for this song, which states he released it on Pye - but I've been unable to trace it. Thanks.

My dad is called eddie fassioms and he actually was one of the founders of the equals and infact eddy grant came in after the group was formed and patrick lloyd replaced my dad (eddie fassioms) when he left the band. He left the band because they all became pot heads and didnt like using drugs. Just thought i might clear that thing up and give my dad some recognition, instead of writing him out of history!

When I was listening to some old tapes of my dad the other day there was a ballad called "Mysterious people". The tape was recorded and compliled from material broadcast by Army Radio Stations and definetely between 1962-1966.I tried to track down the artist but besides Vince Hill and Val Doonican nothing surfaced. Both seem to have recorded the song in the late 1960s, early 1970s but I doubt that one is the artist I am looking for. Can you help?

Unfortunately the Honeycombs are no longer performing, as Denis Dalziel, aka D'Ell, the lead singer, sadly passed away on July 6th 2005. Cancer was the cause, and he is survived by his wife Belinda, and two children from a previous marriage.

I recently inherited a large collection of LPs from my grandfather, which include around 20 45s and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in them. They cover artists from Ike & Tina Turner to Webb Pierce and include music from Paint Your Wagon and the Avengers Theme. If you'd be interested in seeing a full list then please email me and I can send it out.
